Saving is Sexy ? Saving and Budgeting Tips ? I Dare to Save, I Dare ...

What Does it Take to Save? What Does it Take to Blog?

It?s not the first time that my credibility or my credentials are being questioned just because I blog about personal finance. Well, me blogging in general. The first time I was questioned was when I blogged about?au pair scams. A former colleague bashed me on Facebook about how can I possibly be credible to talk about such topic when I haven?t been an au pair.

Simple. It doesn?t take rocket science to determine whether a letter comes from a legit family or from a group of people from Nigeria wanting to lure some of our fellow Filipinos in the hopes of better life in other countries. Take a look at these job offer letters and tell right before my face whether these letter are legit or not.

My intention was pure. I only wanted to warn people to prevent them from being scammed. Yet, some people just feel that need to judge me just because ?I didn?t have the ?credentials? to write about a topic.

I admit that I?ve never been an au pair and my former colleague became an au pair in various countries. She had first hand experience about the subject while I, on the other hand, hadn?t. She clearly had so much advantage, yet, she didn?t have the time nor the heart to warn others to stay away from these scams.

Now, my credentials as a ?personal finance blogger? are being questioned. I started Saving is Sexy?as a place where I could encourage more twenty-somethings (while the readership have grown into those with families and even some finance gurus in the Philippines are reading this blog). *Thank you! Thank you! You know who you are! ; )

I?m not like the finance gurus whom I greatly admire like Sir Randell Tiongson.

Jerry Angping Securities

Nor like Mr. Jerry Angping

Aya Laraya Pesos and Sense

Nor like Aya Laraya of Pesos and Sense.

I?m not like any of those top personal finance speakers and bloggers in the Philippines?who have really awesome credentials and great background in finance. *Though I was so fortunate to have met some of them* [View the album of the Finance Experts in the Philippines that I've met here]

Just like you, I?m just a normal Filipino ? an OFW to be exact ? who dreams of giving her family a much better life and be able to save enough money so I could retire comfortably when the time comes. I like to get myself ready for the future. I had no technical or financial background. I came from a family where we live each day trying to make both ends meet.

Just like you, I want to save money.

So I could buy a house.

So I could have enough money that I could spend when I retire.

So I could give my kids a comfortable life.

So I wouldn?t have to work for money my whole life.

Mum at my first *LIABILITY* investment (Calumpang, Iloilo)?

I wanted all of those mentioned above. Thus, Saving is Sexy was born.

I just wanted to share how I strive to prioritize the needs over wants.

I just wanted to inspire more youth and teenagers to save money and invest in the local stock market.

I just wanted to be debt free and financially free.

I?m not pretending to be an expert in personal finance. I have a list of my most admire finance gurus for that.

I only wanted to inspire. To encourage. To hopefully become an example of someone who wants a better life and strives to live each day to work towards it.
